Purpose of Position
The Communications Officer will serve as Anera’s focal point for all communications in Jordan — working on the development of multimedia content, strategic storytelling, and media outreach that elevate Anera’s visibility nationally and globally. The officer will coordinate daily with the Communications Manager and liaise with partners, donors, and the PR agency to ensure alignment with Anera’s communications vision.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
- Work with the Communications Manager to develop and implement Anera Jordan’s annual communications plan, aligned with regional and HQ strategies.
- Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and tone across all programs (Gaza Patient & Family Support, youth employability, education, agriculture, etc.).
- Contribute to regional and global campaigns showcasing Anera’s impact in Jordan.
- Analyze communication trends and propose data-driven content ideas highlighting Anera’s cumulative impact across sectors (education, livelihoods, health, etc.).
- Support development of strategic reports, infographics, and annual impact highlights.
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Produce high-quality human-interest stories, photos, and short videos highlighting beneficiaries and program achievements.
- Support field visits, donor trips, and media coverage.
- Collaborate with project managers to identify storytelling opportunities across all sectors.
- Ensure ethical storytelling and informed consent in all content.
Media & Visibility
- Manage Anera’s Jordan-based social media content pipeline, feeding material to regional and HQ channels.
- Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to inform strategy adjustments.
- Liaise with donors and partners on visibility and branding requirements.
- Prepare press releases, success stories, and visual materials for donor reports.
- Serve as the communications liaison with the PR firm for media relations, press releases, and campaign rollouts.
- Cultivate relationships with local journalists and media outlets to enhance Anera’s presence.
Coordination & Support
- Work closely and directly with the Communications Manager (Lebanon) on editorial planning and publication.
- Collaborate with the DDP and Country Director to ensure that communications outputs align with organizational priorities and donor strategies.
- Support the Business Development Officer by packaging data and stories into proposals and concept notes.
- Maintain an organized photo, video, and content archive for Jordan projects.
- Submit monthly communications reports, visibility updates, and content calendars.
Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Development Studies, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in humanitarian or development communications.
- Strong bilingual writing and storytelling skills (Arabic & English).
- Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with the ability to transform qualitative and quantitative data into engaging narratives and reports.
- Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, or digital content production and editing.
- Familiarity with donor visibility standards (UNICEF, USAID, EU, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills.

Supervisory & Working Relationships
- Works with a dual reporting line: under the strategic supervision of the DDP for program alignment and priorities and the technical supervision and editorial guidance from the Communications Manager – Lebanon.
- Collaborates closely with all Anera Jordan project managers and the regional MEAL and BD teams.
