Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

 

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery program in Amman and is seeking recruitment for (1) Mental Health Supervisor, in Full time contract.

 

THE JOB:

Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health / psychosocial related services in the program in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health activity manager and other medical team members, to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.
  • Coordinates activities of counseling services with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on mental health matters, including referral services.
  • Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psychosocial needs
  • Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
  • Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
  • Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
  • When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
  • Compile the data and statistics linked with MH activities and report to the MH activity manager
  • Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager.
  • Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential

 

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSABILITIES:

Supervision and Direction of Staff:

  • Supervision of counselling, psychotherapeutic, psychiatric activities.
  • Supervise the mental health providers through observation, case reviews, analysis of the assessments and medical files.
  • Provide technical support to his/her team and provide information for discussion about the mental health program to the mental health manager.
  • Supervision of assignation of appointments, referrals among team members and data collection about the mental health program.
  • Ensure good and effective communication between patients and staff, promoting communication skills and patient therapeutic support.
  • Ensure confidentiality among the team.
  • Coordinate closely with the psychiatrist to ensure integrated treatment planning and risk management.
  • Lead case reviews and clinical meetings to ensure quality and consistency in mental health services.
  • Support professional development, training, and clinical mentorship within the mental health team.
  • Liaise with other departments to support holistic, multi-disciplinary interventions for service users.
  • Oversee documentation standards and compliance with ethical and professional guidelines.
  • Support staff in managing complex or high-risk cases.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and planning.
  • Works in close collaboration with Mental health Manager for ensuring quality and effective psychiatric and psychological follow-up.
  • Conduct regular meetings with his/her team.
  • Validates monthly planning of the team.

 

Reports, Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Assure reports and analysis of the data in psychosocial department on monthly basis.
  • Ensure proper recording and filing of individual patient care and of group activities, in writing and in electronic format, according to MSF and to RSP clinical departments’ requirements.

 

Communication:

  • Favor the awareness of RSP team members about mental health issues.
  • Represent the department in meetings where relevant.
  • Work closely and in a team spirit with the other department Managers and Supervisors.
  • In case of need, present and advocate for individual patient wellbeing and issue solving.

 

PROFILE

  • Essential: Master’s degree in clinical psychology
  • Essential: MOH license as Clinical Psychologist
  • Essential: at least 4 years of working experience as psychologist or other similar profession
  • Desirable: previous working experience in MSF or other NGO in developing countries
  • Essential: Fluency in both Arabic and English languages
  • Essential: computer literacy (word, excel and internet).
  • Respect MSF Policies/ and work time.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, organization and time management skills.
  • English language communications.

 

 

 

 

 

 

WORK LOCATION:           Amman, at Al Mowasah hospital.

CONTRACT:                       6 months full-time contract, renewable, with 3 months’ trial period in the first contract

START DATE:                     February 2026
