JOB SUMMARY

The Medical & Laboratory Commodities Officer will be responsible for the efficient and compliant management, distribution, and tracking of medical supplies, and laboratory equipment within IMC supported health facilities in both Azraq and Zaatari Syrian Refugee camps.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Support the Health Coordinator and Senior Pharmacist in the distribution, tracking, and management of all medical commodities, including medical and laboratory supplies.
  • Initiate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) based on verified technical needs, routine inventory assessments, and programmatic requirements, and follow up on PR status through delivery of medical and laboratory supplies
  • Prepare and maintain shipment and distribution documentation, ensuring all required approvals and signatures are obtained, and compile accurate and timely reports, including monthly distribution and consumption reports.
  • Coordinate closely with the Logistics, Supply Chain, and Program teams to ensure complete documentation and timely, accurate delivery of medical and laboratory supplies to supported health facilities.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory management of all commodities in accordance with IMC procedures and internationally accepted standards, including temperature control, expiration date monitoring, and application of the First-Expire, First-Out (FEFO) principle.
  • Liaise with field medical and health officers, facility managers, and supervisors to confirm deliveries, collect feedback, and validate monthly consumption data to inform supply planning.
  • Track, consolidate, and analyze monthly consumption reports in coordination with Senior Pharmacist to adjust and optimize supply quantities based on actual facility needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with IMC’s Code of Conduct, donor regulations, and internationally accepted humanitarian principles in all supply chain and commodity management activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from Senior Pharmacist. The duties and responsibilities listed in this document are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily all inclusive.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • A bachelor's degree in medicine, pharmacy, laboratory sciences, public health
  • 3+ years of relevant experience working with pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities
  • 2+ years’ Experience with ordering and tracking medical procurements
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators 
  • Fluency in oral and written English required
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word
  • Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures
