Job Title: General Surgery Specialist - Consultant FSR # 624

Location: Azraq Camp Hospital

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Provision of acute assessment and treatment for patients requiring surgical services.

-        Provision of outpatient services including assessment, diagnosis and follow-up.

-        Provision of elective surgical treatment according to Azraq hospital operation theater capacity.

-        Maintenance of an accurate, legible and current medical record.

-        Request, perform, interpret and analyze Lab tests (rationally) to diagnose patients' condition. Perform patient physical examination. Analyze test data or images to inform diagnosis or treatment.

-        Assess and examine patients to establish if a surgical procedure needed and prioritize procedures capacity inside the camp vs referrals to outside the camp.

-        manage and monitor preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures, such as use of sedatives and antibiotics

-        Council patients and their families before surgery to go through the procedures that will be carried out and provide reassurance.

-        follow established surgical techniques and strict sterilization during procedures

-        refer patients to other medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary and perform the associated administrative work.

-        work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating and liaising closely with colleagues including referral team and ER doctors

-        provide support and advice to colleagues working in other specialties

-        accurately recording patient interventions and referrals.

-        Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow.

-        Ensure a rational prescription of medicines from the essential drug list of the camp or provide a medical rational for an exceptional treatment.

-        Ensure the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material under his/her responsibility and assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.

-        When requested, perform training of the medical/paramedical team in order to optimize the quality of care.

-        Respect and follow the health standard operating procedures (reporting diseases with outbreak nature, HIS reporting, referral procedures, etc.). Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.

-        Additional Tasks when requested.

Qualifications:

- General Surgery Board certificate (Jordan or Arabic Council)

- License to practice as a surgeon (Issued by Ministry of Health)

- Membership in the Doctors' Syndicate as a specialist surgeon

Deliverables:

- Medical Consultation in the field of surgery

- Surgical procedures relative to general surgery
