Job Title: Lead Airfield Electrical Technical Officer Industry: Aviation Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary The Lead Airfield Electrical Technical Officer will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and reliability of airfield electrical and lighting systems. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant airside operations by supervising the performance of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring Systems (ALCMS), Visual Docking Guidance Systems (VGDS), Safe Apron Management (SAM) systems, PLCs, and associated network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Lead the implementation, operation, and preventive maintenance of all airfield electrical and lighting systems. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to AGL, ALCMS, VGDS, SAM, PLCs, and airport network systems. Ensure all systems comply with international aviation standards (ICAO, FAA, EASA as applicable). Plan and execute maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity. Supervise and coordinate with technicians, contractors, and other airport teams during system upgrades, repairs, and inspections. Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records of system performance, maintenance activities, and inspections. Support airfield expansion projects, upgrades, and commissioning of new equipment. Conduct system testing, calibration, and quality checks to ensure optimal performance and safety. Implement safety protocols and ensure adherence to airport electrical safety procedures. Provide training and technical guidance to junior staff and maintenance teams.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field. Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience in the implementation, operation, and maintenance of:Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) ALCMSVisual Docking Guidance Systems (VGDS) Safe Apron Management (SAM) systems PLCs and network systems Strong knowledge of aviation standards and airfield operational requirements. Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics, and system manuals. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience working in airport environments is highly preferred.
