The Department
The Human Resource Department is responsible for providing effective HR policies, procedures, and people-friendly guidelines and support within Mercy Corps Jordan. This includes but is not limited to: Talent Acquisition & development; employee engagement coordination; country wide training & learning management; compensation & benefits administration; country wide performance management oversight; disciplinary & grievance handling; staff data management. The HR team supports the Jordan country office with staffing of approximately 200 team members.
The Position
Under the direct supervision of the HR Senior Officer, the Human Resource Assistant is responsible for supporting Mercy Corps’ programs in Jordan in close coordination with support departments and programs based in Amman. The position will support in various human resources functions, specifically in personnel, health insurance, and recruitment processes.
Essential Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding:
• Responsible for scheduling interviews and technical tests for all positions according to the HR procedures
• Reviews applications, shortlisting, participates in the interview process and recommends final applicant
• Responsible for handing out the onboarding booklet and documents to MCJ new staff members and ensuring the process is entirely completed and smooth
• Responsible for conducting the HR orientation to new national team members.
Administrative:
• Filing and reviewing all staff’s personnel files upon arrival
• Responsible for following up on timesheet submission of all national team members
• Responsible for sending out beginning vacation and sick leave balances to all staff in the beginning of every month
• Responsible for issuing official embassy and bank letters
• Responsible for following up on Personnel Action Forms, including signatures from head of department/programs
• Update the Health Insurance tracker and dispense health insurance cards and forms when needed.
• Complete filing of any health-insurance related documents, monthly personnel changes, etc.
• Ensure all personnel files are organized and all necessary documents are included in each file
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor
SAFEGAURDING RESPONSIBILITIES
• Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work
• Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members
• Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options

Reports Directly To: Senior Human Resources Officer
Works Directly With: HR Team, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, Program Team.
Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
This position requires skill in provision of human resource and administration, excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English, ability to multitask and prioritize work efficiently, with a close attention to details and ability to follow agency and donor procedures while meeting deadlines. The position requires a person who is adaptable and able to work under difficult or stressful conditions. Credentials and relevant experience required for the position are as follows:
• University Degree in management, administration or related fields.
• A candidate with a minimum of one year of experience in HR field, iNGO is a plus.
• Strong multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization skills are necessary.
• Accuracy and attention to details are necessary.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
The position is based in Amman, Jordan or other Middle East Mercy Corps locations and it requires up to 40% travel to support country programs, which may include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where amenities are limited. Housing for this role is in individual housing and staff will have access to good medical services and the living situation is of a high standard.
