SOS Children's Villages Jordan is a national non-profit organization established in 1983 to provide alternative care for children and youth who lack parental care or are at risk of losing it.

What distinguishes our care model is providing integrated care for children and youth, by covering all their needs including care, accommodation, education and skills, protection and social inclusion, food security, physical health, livelihood, and social and emotional wellbeing. The Association is guided by the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care for Children and the Convention on the Rights of the Child issued by the United Nations. The Association also aligns its efforts with the principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, where the goals of the United Nations for sustainable development come within the focus of the Association's work and strategy.

Why we need you?

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Support Group Curriculum Development to design high-quality, culturally appropriate materials for youth (14–18 years) and families of at-risk or current substance users. These structured resources will strengthen resilience, coping strategies, and communication while ensuring alignment with the National Anti-Narcotics Strategy.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s  degree (or higher) in Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, Public Health, Education, or related field.

Experience:

  • 7–10 years’ experience in substance abuse prevention, adolescent/family mental health, or youth support programs (preferably in Jordan or MENA).
  • Proven experience developing bilingual (Arabic & English) training or support group materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to design interactive educational content (guides, manuals, handouts).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of culturally and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic & English.
  • Experience collaborating with NGOs, CBOs, and government stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop youth support group session guides (by age group and risk level).
  2. Create family support group session guides focusing on resilience, communication, and coping.
  3. Prepare facilitator manuals with clear instructions on sensitive discussions and group management.
  4. Design participant handouts (youth & family) with practical, easy-to-use tools.
  5. Ensure all materials are bilingual, culturally appropriate, and aligned with national strategies.
  6. Submit a final consolidated package of all resources, formatted and ready for implementation.

Deliverables

  1. Youth Support Group Session Guides (4) – Arabic & English.
  2. Youth Participant Handouts (4 sets) – Arabic & English.
  3. Family Support Group Session Guide (1) – Arabic & English.
  4. Family Participant Handouts (3 sets) – Arabic & English.
  5. Facilitator Manuals (2) – Arabic & English.
  6. Final Consolidated Materials Package (1) – Arabic & English.

Duration

  1. Short-term, task-based engagement: 10 working days
  2. Timeline: October 19 – December 10, 2025

Reporting and Coordination

  1. Reports directly to the Project Manager at SOS CVJO.
  2. Works closely with JOHUD for contextualization and community relevance.
  3. Collaborates with the Anti-Narcotics Department to ensure alignment with the National Anti-Narcotics Strategy.
