Roles & responsibilities: <ul > <li >Preparing and maintaining the equipment and resources required for design lessons.</li> <li >Setting up and supervising practical activities for students.</li> <li >Maintaining health and safety standards and ensuring safe working practices in the workshop.</li> <li >Assisting teaching staff in developing and implementing lesson plans and activities.</li> <li >Helping students with their practical work and providing technical guidance and support.</li> <li >Repairing and maintaining equipment, tools, and machinery as required.</li> <li >Keeping accurate records of equipment, materials, and stock levels.</li> <li >Assisting in the development of new courses and resources for design and technology education.</li> <li >Providing technical advice and support for design and technology projects.</li> <li >Supporting and supervising students during extra-curricular activities, such as clubs or competitions.</li> <li >Prepare purchase orders for materials and equipment needed for the workshop.</li> <li >Ensure regular cleaning of the workshop, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting surfaces, workbenches, equipment, and tools.</li> <li >Proper storage of materials and equipment in their designated places to avoid clutter and potential hazards.</li> <li >Ensuring that students and teachers clean up after themselves and return tools and equipment to their proper places after use.</li> <li >Disposing of waste materials and debris appropriately, following proper procedures for recycling, and disposing of hazardous materials.</li> <li >Regular inspection of the workshop to identify potential hazards and cleaning and maintenance needs.</li> <li >Collaborating with other design technicians to contribute students’ success.</li> <li >Communicating regularly and constructively with students </li> <li >Communicating, where necessary with parents and external bodies, following school policies</li> <li >Attending school events, workshops and conferences</li> <li >Attending departments regular meetings  </li> <li >Taking photos for students during the year while working, conducting activities, and creating their final products.</li> <li >Supervising design competitions and following up.</li> <li >Preparing for school Design Day “Tasmeem” and any design events, which might require working after school hours or during weekends and holidays if needed.</li> <li >Carrying out any other duties or responsibilities requested by the principal.</li> </ul> Job requirements: <ul > <li >Education and qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required, and a vocational or technical qualification in a relevant field such as engineering or manufacturing may be preferred.</li> <li >Technical knowledge: A strong understanding of design and technology principles, equipment, and tools is essential. The technician must be familiar with relevant health and safety regulations and able to maintain a safe working environment.</li> <li >Communication skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for this role. The technician must be able to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to students and teaching staff. Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English.</li> <li >Organizational skills: The technician must be highly organized, able to keep accurate records, and manage resources effectively.</li> <li >Problem-solving skills: The technician must be able to identify and troubleshoot technical problems and provide effective solutions.</li> <li >Attention to detail: The technician must have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all equipment and tools are maintained to a high standard.</li> <li >Interpersonal skills: The technician must be able to work collaboratively with others, including students, teachers, and other support staff.</li> <li >Physical fitness: The role may require lifting heavy objects and working in a physically demanding environment, so the technician must be physically fit and able to carry out these tasks safely. Good communication & Presentation skills and ability to speak in public in confidence.</li> <li >CAD software: Computer-aided design (CAD) software is often used in design and technology, and the technician should have some knowledge of how to use it.
