<p>The UN Secretary-General launched on 1 January 2019 a bold and new global reform which repositioned the UN Development System to deliver more effectively and efficiently with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this reform, UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the leadership of an empowered and independent UN Resident Coordinator - the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System and Representative of the UN Secretary-General at country level - support countries in the achievement of their development priorities and the attainment of the SDG's. In its Resolution A/RES/72/279, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the transformation of the Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO) as a stand-alone coordination office within the United Nations Secretariat. DCO exercises managerial and oversight functions of the resident coordinator system under the oversight of the Chair of United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG). In 2026, DCO undertook a recalibration to ensure the RC system remains optimally configured to support the acceleration of the 2030 Agenda and embodies the UN 2.0 shift- anchored in data, digital, innovation, behavioral science, strategic foresight, and a mission driven organizational culture.</p><p>The Associate Communications Officer will lead the development and implementation of the UN Country Team s communication strategies in close collaboration with the leadership and communication focal points of UN entities; Contribute to the development of common UNCT messaging on collective priorities and lead media engagement efforts to ensure advocacy messages effectively reach target audiences; Support the Resident Coordinator s engagement with external partners by ensuring appropriate visibility and comprehensive media and social media coverage; Lead interagency communication initiatives, media campaigns, and UN system-wide events in collaboration with relevant UN entities, media outlets, government partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring that key messages and advocacy efforts are effectively communicated; Coordinate the UN Communication Group, facilitating agency engagement and contributions to collective initiatives, events, and campaigns to strengthen the One UN voice and ensure that the UN Jordan website and social media platforms are regularly updated with relevant content, publications, news, and events, while facilitating stakeholder and public access to these platforms. <p>About REACH and IMPACT </p><p>REACH was created in 2010 as a joint initiative of two International NGOs (IMPACT Initiatives and ACTED) and the United Nations Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT). REACH’s purpose is to facilitate the development of information products that enhance the humanitarian community’s decision-making and planning capacity for emergency, recovery, and development contexts. REACH supports information management for aid actors through three complementary services: (a) needs and situation assessments by REACH teams; (b) situation analysis using satellite imagery; (c) provision of database and (web)-mapping facilities and expertise.</p><p>IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative. Depending on organizational needs and the successful candidate's profile, the position may be based within either the <b>Public Health and Prioritisation</b>, <b>Shelter and Site Management, or Cash, Markets & Livelihoods Units</b> supporting REACH's humanitarian research portfolio in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt).</p><p>The REACH Senior Assessment Officer (SAO) will lead and support the design, implementation, and analysis of humanitarian assessments and research across one or more thematic sectors. This includes leading the development of assessment methodologies and tools, overseeing data collection and quality assurance processes, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, and producing high-quality analytical outputs to inform humanitarian response planning, coordination, advocacy, and decision-making.</p><p>Previous experience conducting humanitarian assessments, research, or data analysis is required, along with experience managing and processing large datasets (including in Microsoft Excel). Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Experience with Kobo Toolbox and capacity building is preferred. Familiarity with statistical software (e.g. R, SPSS, or Stata) and/or data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI or Tableau) is an asset but not required.
