Family Health International (FHI 360) is currently recruiting for the position of Finance Coordinator for the USAID Jordan Community Health and Nutrition Project. The purpose of the Community Health and Nutrition (CHN) Project is to improve the nutritional status of children under five and pregnant and lactating women in target areas. The activity seeks to support child and maternal health and nutrition status by improving breastfeeding practices, introducing appropriate complementary foods at the right time, and ensuring appropriate child spacing through postpartum family planning and continuation of modern forms of contraception. This position will be based in Amman, Jordan.
Job Summary:
The employee filling this position will ensure that the financial transactions of the CHN Project are accurately administered and in compliance with USAID regulations and FHI 360 policies. This includes drafting of payments and wire transfers, recording, and tracking cost related data. Duties may also include preparation of documents and reports, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, and assisting the finance department as needed.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Record financial transactions on FHI360/CHN financial systems.
- Prepare bank and petty cash disbursement vouchers, wire transfers and checks ensuring all financial transactions are in compliance with FHI360 policies and procedures.
- Verify accuracy of all payment requests, supporting documentation and assure proper allocation of payments per chart of accounts.
- Follow up with vendors and suppliers to discuss invoices and payments and resolve discrepancies as required.
- Update CHN’s commitment and finance trackers on a weekly basis.
- Maintain a well-organized filing system (electronic and physical) for the monthly financial reports.
- Draft cash requests on a weekly basis for review and approval.
- Assist in the Month end closing process such as preparing payroll, prepaid expenses, advances, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, etc.
- Support in the preparation of pre-award assessments for grantees and subcontracts as required.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, in finance, business administration, accounting, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in the NGO sector, preferably with USAID projects.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to engage directly with vendors.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team approach.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize as per work needs.
- Must have a high level of attention to details.
- Must have demonstrated excellent computer skills.
