JOB SUMMARY

They are frontline workers providing mental health case management and child protection case management and other relevant services for people with MHPSS and child protection needs]

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Ensure the best interests of children are prioritized by applying child-focused principles, understanding their development and well-being, and engaging effectively with children of all ages and their families, including those in challenging situations
  • Commit to the IMC mental health case management model.
  • Conduct home visits for new cases or beneficiaries in need as part of the assessment process.
  • Assess risks, needs, and strengths, and develop appropriate responses in consultation with the child and/or their caregivers. This includes completing biopsychosocial assessments and other required assessments for beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with clients to plan, implement, monitor, and amend individualized services that promote clients’ strengths, advance their well-being, and help them achieve their goals. Plans should be based on meaningful assessments and have specific, attainable, and measurable objectives.
  • Work with children, families, and carers to implement planned actions to ensure the safety, stability, and development of the child. This involves direct guiding, encouraging, and supporting the child and family while monitoring impacts and outcomes.
  • Conduct safety planning with clients, working in collaboration with the client’s family (if appropriate) and other agencies to manage identified risks, with a specific focus on safety issues and support for stabilizing families affected by domestic violence.
  • Organize and monitor the implementation of care plans, with a specific focus on safety issues and support for stabilizing families affected by domestic violence.
  • Establish long-term goals in case planning, including family stability, and short-term goals with steps to address safety and immediate family stability. Ensure all care plan activities have timelines and support services.
  • Coordinate case management services, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide case management sessions that include lay counseling.
  • Conduct reviews for appropriate utilization of services from admission through discharge/termination.
  • Coordinate the provision of psychosocial support services to patients, families, and significant others to help them deal with the impact of illness on individual family functioning and to achieve maximum benefits from mental healthcare services.
  • Advocate for the rights, decisions, strengths, and needs of children and families, and promote their access to resources, support, and services. Serve as a client advocate, enhancing collaborative relationships to maximize the client’s and family’s ability to make informed decisions.
  • Promote collaboration among colleagues and organizations to enhance service delivery and facilitate client goal attainment.
  • Provide and facilitate client access to culturally sensitive and competent services.
  • Ensure the involvement of local authorities, community leaders, and community groups in creating community-based protection mechanisms and networks to increase access to better health and social services for vulnerable populations.
  • Promote and introduce the International Medical Corps mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services within community settings and Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs).
  • Coordinate the provision of psychosocial support services to patients, families, and significant others to help them deal with the impact of illness on individual family functioning and to achieve maximum benefits from mental healthcare services.
  • Work closely with members of the MDT (psychologist, psychiatrist, mhGAP-trained healthcare workers) to develop and follow up on care plans.
  • Facilitate referrals and ensure adequate follow-up of all cases referred.
  • Conduct outreach activities, home visits when needed, and prepare and conduct mental health and CP awareness sessions using relevant guidance and tools.
  • Conduct community-based Psychosocial activities.
  • Prepare for, participate in and document Case Management for technical meetings and case conferences. Attending regular meetings.
  • Work in close coordination with senior management and focal point on issues related to the field, including identifying challenges and gaps, and providing necessary information for better implementation of activities.
  • Responsible for filling out all case management activities in client records (e.g., "CPIMS+ and MHPSS tools and platforms) in a timely manner.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management staff as required and contribute to donor reports and internal IMC reports as required. Submit monthly reports and weekly data collection sheets to the focal point and MHPSS manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Nursing, social counseling, occupational therapy, or related field.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health or child protection services, particularly in case management or direct service provision.
  •  Previous NGO experiences desired.
  • Adheres to ethical considerations and principles regarding working with vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills.
  • Understanding the project cycle and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure high quality work.
  • Emotional maturity and agility in working in a fast-paced environment.
  • languages: Arabic and English are required 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office. Advance skills in MS Office are a plus.
