Sr Product Manager, Payments

Job Purpose
PaymentsCo offers country-level Identity and Payment solutions that reduce fraud, and improve operating margins and
user experience.


Sr. Product Manager, Payments will work closely with clients, UX, tech teams, and other internal and external
stakeholders to champion product ideas from ideation and planning to execution in building a scalable consumer
payments experience.


The right candidate possesses a strong B2B software product management background, a deep understanding of the
payments industry, and demonstrated experience launching new B2B products to market. You must be able to thrive
and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity. This means you are not only able to
own high-level strategic initiatives, but also roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done. You will have a good
executive presence and excellent verbal/ written communication.


Responsibilities and Accountabilities
 Strategic Product Leadership: Provide strategic direction for payment products, encompassing go-to-market
strategy, roadmap planning, product-market fit analysis, and competitive positioning.
 Own, write, and review detailed user stories and requirements for payment products and services, with the ability
to negotiate detailed requirements and solution design trade-offs
 Provide cross-functional collaboration with user experience designers, engineers, DevOps, and QA team
members to define and prioritize requirements, ensure clear criteria for success and failure cases, and drive the
design and development of new product features and enhancements.
 Provide support and collaboration with technical writers to create comprehensive documentation to ensure that
external users/customers, and internal team members, including customer support, are well-equipped to support
our products effectively.
 Engage closely with customers to understand their root problems, acting as the voice of the customer within the
organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advocate for customer needs in product design and
development.
 Champion the Voice of the Customer by executing a systematic approach to capture, analyze, and prioritize
customer feedback and insights, ensuring they are translated into product features and improvements.
 Effectively engage with senior leadership by presenting product strategies, progress, and outcomes, ensuring
alignment with organizational objectives and securing their support.
 Develop compelling value propositions that drive distinct competitive advantages for selling new and existing
products as well as expanding utilization within the existing client base.
 Contribute to the development of the product roadmap alongside PaymentsCo leadership in collaboration with
sales and marketing efforts, ensuring optimal customer engagement and deal closures.
 Analyze and interpret market data, customer insights, and sales performance metrics to drive data-informed
decision-making and provide recommendations to the PaymentsCo leadership for product strategy, positioning,
and pricing.
 Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product
innovation and differentiation, and direct market research efforts to uncover customer needs, preferences, and
pain points.
 Own launch coordination of new products and features while working with relevant stakeholders across the
organization.
 Work closely with Product Delivery to ensure engineering interlocks with committed plans from design through
delivery.
 Provide mentorship and leadership to junior Product Managers and Business Analysts, fostering their growth and
development within the team.

 Proven track record of executing a best-in-class Product function in a B2B applications software/SaaS company
with experience in a hands-on environment where speed-to-market and disciplined execution are key.
 Experience in successfully managing the entire product lifecycle, from vision and strategy to planning,
development (in collaboration with engineering and cross-functional leaders), launch, and optimization of existing
and new products.
 Proven track record of taking the product strategy and roadmap and effectively translating and executing against it
to drive value and growth for the overall business.

 

Desired Skills and Experience
 Proven track record of executing a best-in-class Product function in a B2B applications software/SaaS company
with experience in a hands-on environment where speed-to-market and disciplined execution are key.
 Experience in successfully managing the entire product lifecycle, from vision and strategy to planning,
development (in collaboration with engineering and cross-functional leaders), launch, and optimization of existing
and new products.
 Proven track record of taking the product strategy and roadmap and effectively translating and executing against it
to drive value and growth for the overall business.

Solid experience effectively managing products, while navigating the complexities of a multi-product business
environment, and leveraging product integration to create portfolio value.
 Track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, strong work ethic, achieving challenging goals, and
ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
 Demonstrable ability to successfully work across teams utilizing strong leadership and communication skills, both
written and oral, to achieve this, whether internal or external
 Ability to quickly assimilate information, providing innovative solutions.
 Exceptional communicator, leading across the business to build trust and credibility.
 7+ years of experience in product delivery or product management in Financial Services industry.
 4+ years of experience working specifically within payments – You deeply understand and have worked on one or
more payment rails, understand the key participants in a payment ecosystem and the modules of money
movement like authorization, charge, settlement, returns, refunds etc.
 In-depth knowledge of payment processing protocols, regulations, and compliance requirements, such as PSD2,
3DS, SCA, PCI, and more.
 Experience with and knowledge of cloud platform solutions
