Position: Community Engagement Manager

Family Health International (FHI 360) is currently recruiting for the position of Community Engagement Manager for the USAID Jordan Community Health and Nutrition Project. The purpose of the Community Health and Nutrition (CHN) Project is to improve the nutritional status of children under five and pregnant and lactating women in target areas. The activity seeks to support child and maternal health and nutrition status by improving breastfeeding practices, introducing appropriate complementary foods at the right time, and ensuring appropriate child spacing through postpartum family planning and continuation of modern forms of contraception.

 

Job Summary

The employee filling this position will play a key role in supporting the program’s Social and Behavior Change (SBC) activities by providing direct support to the SBCC Director, SBC team and project partners to design and implement SBC interventions to promote Maternal and Infant Child Nutrition and Post-Partum Family Planning (MIYCN-PPFP). As such, the employee is requested to maintain excellent government and partner relations in his daily duties.

Areas of Responsibility

The main responsibilities of the Community Engagement Manager include the following:

  • Manage the SBC community mobilization officers, manage their field visits, and review their reports. 
  • Support SBC team in planning, designing, and implementation of SBC community outreach activities at community level.
  • Work closely with the SBC director to develop and conduct the training workshops for the CHN grantees and partners.
  • Work closely with the SBC director to supervise the implementation of the SBC Grants Program by working with the CHN grantees to ensure the implementation of the SBC outreach activities.
  • Work with the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team to ensure the correct utilization of the M&E tools and accurate reporting by grantees.
  • Review the reports provided by grantees, partners, and subcontractors.
  • Support the development of project deliverables, work plans, and reports.
  • Develop/review content for SBC material including IEC materials and SBC guides, field-testing tools.
  • Performing other duties of similar nature or level. As requested by the direct supervisor or the project senior management.

 

Qualifications

The successful individual is required to meet the following criteria:

  • University degree or equivalent in Social and Behavior Change Communication, Social Marketing, Public Health, Health Communication, Health Promotion, Social Sciences, or any relevant academic areas.
  • At least 5 years’ work experience with a public health, development, or marketing organization, of these at least 3 years should be in a leading position of SBC initiatives development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of public health issues in the following areas strongly preferred: Maternal, Infant and Young Children Nutrition (MIYCN), Family Planning, Reproductive Health, Maternal and Child Health.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential.
  • Experience working on USAID funded project with an understanding of USAID’s rules, and regulations preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal English and Arabic communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
