OBJECTIVE

 

TEAM PURPOSE: To provide livelihood opportunities through recycling programme in Oxfam implementation projects locations in coordination with WASH and CFW team. 

 

JOB PURPOSE: The Recycling assistant will coordinate the implementation of the project amongst various stakeholders. S/He will liaise with Oxfam’s Solid Waste Management and Community Mobilisation teams to ensure the project’s implementation in line with work-plans and set indicators.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE WORKING GROUP

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Programme Implementation

 

1.Facilitate and brief community groups on recycling project activities to raise awareness.

2.Lead the Refugees Cash for work workers in implementing recycling project.

3.To assist selection, coaching, training and maintain time sheets of the cash for workers for better performance.

4.To ensure SWM standards and regulations are respected/applied for efficient operations

5.To ensure smooth day to day services of the Oxfam recycling centre and maintain regular checks and follow-ups.

6.To propose ideas/innovations of operational services.

7.To assist in troubleshooting potential problems during daily business

8.Conduct orientation sessions with community on recycling project and importance of recycling in the projects locations.

9.Report any accidents or issues affecting the security and operations immediately to the officer.

10.To ensure daily camp Trips to monitor and follow up trucks trips and camp situation, and report directly.

11.To monitor and maintain logs/records of recycling materials received in or shipped from the Green Center.

12.Conduct data collection related to solid waste management recycling project and upon the need.

13.Contribute in timely and quality reporting on recycling project activities to recycling officer.

14.Assist in collecting best practices, case studies on recycling project which demonstrate qualitative and quantitative.

15.Assist in surveys at project targeted locations.

16.Delivering any other responsibility assigned by the line manager.

17.Assist the recycling team throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of recycling project.

18.To assist in daily and weekly reports, verbally, in writing and electronic to officer.

19.To generate and share other reports with supervisor as per need.

20.To assist in ensuring that all programmes take gender/protection issues fully into account.

21.To be familiar with and abide by the NGO/Red Cross Code of Conduct, the People in Aid Code, Oxfam International procedures and other regulatory codes (e.g. InterAction Field Co-operation Protocol).

22.Work with the MEAL team in developing and strengthening accountability mechanisms at community level;

 

Coordination

23.Actively communication/coordination internally with other team such as community mobilization, Cash for work team and construction team.

  1. Participate in weekly stand up meetings and updating the team on progress meeting.
  2. You will be required to support Cash for work workers in waste separation projects in different location.
  3. The Recycling assistant will supervise the work on site and be responsible for the implementation of the recycling project.
  4. Set performance objectives with your line manager, as well as managing the process for those within your own team.
  5. Work patterns are not routine and often high pressure.
  6. Flexibility, Willingness to learn and enthusiasm for humanitarian work

Qualifications

 

Essentials

 

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work across teams within an organisation
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and relationships simultaneously
  • Experience of in working close with disaster affected communities
  • Strong team working skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Fluency in Arabic.
  • Knowledge or experience of integrating protection and gender into programmes
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the challenges faced by Syrian refugees living in Jordanian camps
  • Sympathy with the aims and goals of Oxfam

 

Nonessentials

 

  • Basic English skills.

Accountability: The working groups will enable transparency by clearly documenting all processes, including Terms of Reference (ToRs), work plans, stakeholder feedback, approval processes, and final implementation plans. This ensures that all documentation is accessible to all involved.

Inclusivity: We commit to the principle of "Nothing about Us without Us," ensuring active participation from CCRs and historically marginalized groups. While improving policies, we will balance inclusivity with efficiency to avoid overburdening CCRs. This includes ensuring diverse representation within working groups (e.g., gender, geography, ethnicity) and allowing time for translation and asynchronous participation when needed. All final outputs (e.g., policies, guides) will be made available in the four official languages, with relevant webinars conducted in those languages.
