Org. Setting and Reporting
The UN Secretary-General launched on 1 January 2019 a bold and new global reform which repositioned the UN Development System to deliver more effectively and efficiently with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this reform, UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the leadership of an empowered and independent UN Resident Coordinator - the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System and Representative of the UN Secretary-General at country level - support countries in the achievement of their development priorities and the attainment of the SDG's. In 2026, DCO undertook a recalibration to ensure the RC system remains optimally configured to support the acceleration of the 2030 Agenda and embodies the UN 2.0 shift- anchored in data, digital, innovation, behavioral science, strategic foresight, and a mission driven organizational culture. The Associate Communications Officer will lead the development and implementation of the UN Country Team’s communication strategies in close collaboration with the leadership and communication focal points of UN entities; Contribute to the development of common UNCT messaging on collective priorities and lead media engagement efforts to ensure advocacy messages effectively reach target audiences; Support the Resident Coordinator’s engagement with external partners by ensuring appropriate visibility and comprehensive media and social media coverage; Lead interagency communication initiatives, media campaigns, and UN system-wide events in collaboration with relevant UN entities, media outlets, government partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring that key messages and advocacy efforts are effectively communicated; Coordinate the UN Communication Group, facilitating agency engagement and contributions to collective initiatives, events, and campaigns to strengthen the One UN voice and ensure that the UN Jordan website and social media platforms are regularly updated with relevant content, publications, news, and events, while facilitating stakeholder and public access to these platforms. refine browser-based applications with real logic, state, persistence, and user input — from habit trackers and budgeting tools to internal dashboards, mini-SaaS tools, and AI-powered apps.
You may also work on standalone Python applications and data-processing scripts that sit alongside or behind these products.
Key Responsibilities Build interactive web applications with frontend (React, Next.
js, Vue, or similar) and a backend API (Python/FastAPI/Flask or Node/Express).
Design and implement data models, schemas, and persistence layers using SQL (PostgreSQL, SQLite) or code and debug end-to-end issues across frontend, backend, and database.
Educational qualifications At least 3 years of relevant experience in full-stack web development or shipping interactive web applications (required).
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical fields is a plus.
Academic and/or Professional Experience Candidates should have a strong foundation in full-stack web development, modern frontend frameworks, backend architecture, and building interactive browser-based applications end-to-end.
We are looking for specialists who can confidently work across frontend, backend, databases, and APIs, design robust application logic, and build production-ready web applications.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently architect and ship complete features are essential.
Technical Skills (Essential) Strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework (React, Next.
js, Vue, Svelte, or similar).
Solid backend experience in Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and/or Node.
js (Express, NestJS).
Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) and basic schema design.
Experience implementing REST APIs, request validation, error handling, and authentication flows.
Familiarity with deployment platforms (Vercel, Netlify, Render, Fly.
io, Railway, or similar).
Experience integrating LLM APIs or other AI services into product features is a strong plus.
Comfortable with version control (Git) and basic testing practices.
Additional requirements Strong attention to detail and commitment to building working, robust products — not demos.
Self-directed work ethic with the ability to architect, build, and ship features independently.
Portfolio of shipped web applications (required).
English proficiency: Upper-intermediate (B2) or above (required).
Project time expectations For this project, tasks are estimated to require around 10–20 hours per week during active phases, based on project
