Simplon.co is a start-up within the Social and Solidarity Economy that is fast-growing and resolutely committed to an inclusive and solidarity-based digital economy. Founded in 2013, Simplon.co is a social utility company (“ESUS”) that is currently the largest and most inclusive actor within the French government-approved “Grand École du Numérique” network, and proudly holds the labels of “French Tech” and “La France S’Engage.” Our core activities include:

  • Recruiting under-represented individuals within the tech sector (job seekers, individuals without degrees, individuals coming from priority neighborhoods or rural areas, employees undergoing professional reconversion, and refugees) with an objective of achieving gender parity within our training programmes

  • Training these under-represented individuals inWeb/Mobile/Software Development as well as forpositions in the tech sector that are difficult to recruit for (Data, Artificial Intelligence, IOT, Network and Systems Administration, Cyber Security, etc.).

  • Supporting trainees infinding a job or increating their own business

  • Developingtraining courses for companies, most notably toreskill or upskill their employees

Our training courses in France are intensive and free of charge for trainees. To date, Simplon.co has trained over 6,000 people, including 25% at the international level. Today, Simplon.co is present in nearly 100 locations within France and abroad, and we’re not done growing yet!

At the international level, Simplon.co is present:

  • In the Middle East (currently in Jordan and Lebanon, with future developments in Egypt and Turkey)

  • Outside of the Middle East in 19 different countries, with projects in Europe, the Maghreb, Africa, and India that are more often than not backed by major clients (companies, governments, development agencies, etc.)

The overall mission of the INTERNATIONAL Impact Unit at Simplon is to study, propose, and implement Simplon.co projects on an international scale, either on its own or within the framework of a partnership with a local organisation or enterprise.

The Middle East Project Manager will work within the International Team at Simplon.co. He/She will be an ambassador of Simplon.co abroad. Reporting to the of International Operations, he/she will aim to:

  • Ensure the successful implementation of Simplon.co projects in the Middle East, with a focus on operational excellence and cohesion amongst processes and tools 

  • Provide ongoing support to local project management and training teams throughout the Middle East

 

This position is centered around the following duty:

 

  • Supporting the existing Simplon training centers in Jordan and the opening of new centers in the Middle East  
  • Finalize the project set-up phase for all cohorts

  • Advise and equip project leads at each step of the project: running workshops, thoroughly anticipating each phase with the project lead (recruitment of trainees, cohort launch, masterpiece project, final jury...), making recommendations, etc.

  • Share Simplon best practices in terms of engineering and pedagogical tools (Simplonline), project management, human resource management, business engagement, etc.

  • Guarantee the implementation of the “Simplon process”: integrating companies into the training process, recruiting the training team and trainees, participating in the kick-off and major project milestones, following up with the pedagogical team, conducting training and financing assessments

  • Provide on-site, operational support to and follow-up with the existing project management and training teams: coordinate day-to-day project management tasks in conjunction with the pedagogical team and training center manager, oversee and provide support in regard to operational aspects, regular visits to the training centers

  • Provide regular follow-up and operational support to new training centers opened in the Middle East: coordinate day-to-day project management tasks in conjunction with the pedagogical team via Skype or Google Hangouts, oversee and provide support in regard to operational aspects of the project, conduct regular calls with & provide remote support of the training and project management team 

Prerequisites :

  • Available ASAP

  • Fluent in both spoken and written Arabic & English

  • 3 to 5 years experience in project management 

  • Proven experience in the management of training programmes, ideally in IT 

  • Available to be based in Amman, Jordan 

Desired skills and experiences:

  • Knowledge of the actors and issues related to the digital sector and the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE)

  • Curiosity and appetence for the pedagogy of digital training and the challenges of the digital transformation of companies

  • Curiosity about the vocational training ecosystem

  • Working knowledge of international institutions and regional actors within the Middle East

  • Experience in HR project management and/or trainings

  • Native-level Arabic

  • English level C1 (fluent) 

  • Knowledge of Turkish would be a plus

  • Comfortable producing written reports and visual supports using G Suite 

  • Analytical and negotiation skills

  • Teamwork, ability to laborate with others

  • Ability to learn and adapt

  • Proactivity, autonomy, and creativity

  • Area of intervention : based in Amman, Jordan with occasional missions throughout the Middle East
