The Program / Department / Team
Over the past eight years, MCJ) has been working to support refugees in Za'atari and Azraq camps by providing psychosocial services and promoting safe environments. The ISHRAK program, which aims to empower and train youth, has been implemented over three years, providing mental health support, digital literacy, positive parenting skills, and civic engagement. Over a decade after the Syrian civil war, refugees still need strategies to connect with local institutions and market opportunities. MCJ is adapting the ISHRAK program to focus on sustainable outcomes, enabling marginalized groups, particularly youth, to access psychological support and secure sustainable livelihoods. The program has also been redesigned to address toxic stress, economic empowerment, and social inclusion within the Jordanian community.
The Position
This position supports the implementation of project activities by assisting the Camp Project Coordinators and the Camp Project Manager with operations, monitoring volunteer performance, and tracking participant progress. Responsibilities include contributing to monitoring and evaluation efforts, preparing regular reports, conducting community outreach, and supervising volunteers and facilitators to ensure high-quality services are provided. The role also includes supporting the organization of training events, coordinating community outreach activities, and maintaining the safety and security of all participants and stakeholders, while upholding Mercy Corps’ humanitarian mission and standards.
Essential Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
•Assist camps project coordinators and MC camps Manager in all operations related to the project implementation.
•Monitor volunteers’ performance, enrolment, progress and psycho-social improvements.
•Contribute to overall monitoring and evaluation efforts in accordance with the plan, including monitoring, data collection, data entry, analysis and report writing.
•Prepare weekly updates and monthly progress reports, including achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
•Demonstrate professionalism and integrity in both personal and professional conduct, ensuring actions reflect positively on Mercy Corps and uphold its humanitarian mission.
•Ensure safety and security of participants, volunteers, community members and the team.
Implementation:
•Support community outreach and identification participants.
•Ensure that the provision of the equipment and devices adheres to MC’s policies and protocols.
•Conduct field orientation for the new volunteers.
•Orient and oversee volunteers in preparing plans, progress notes, and reports, ensuring quality and consistent follow-up on their performance.
•Support in conducting exams for volunteers, facilitators, and minders, and participate in the interview process.
•Prepare the list of cases that need a referral for other services.
•Conduct regular community meetings to ensure providing a high quality of services and collection of feedback.
•Support, prepare and conduct community sensitization events.
•Follow-up on the daily attendance of participants in MC sites and follow-up their absence response.
•Follow-up on the daily activities, including schedule and delivery of activities.
•Oversee and provide guidance to the facilitators and Minders.
•Support in preparing training materials, oversee and evaluate all training events.
•Support, prepare, conduct, coordinate and monitor the training events, including training of participants and volunteers.
•Attend the activity preparation activities in the field with partners and working NGO in the field.
•Provide support for organizing visits, meetings, events, training, and workshops
•Other duties as assigned.
SAFEGAURDING RESPONSIBILITIES
•Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work.
•Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members.
•Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.
Supervisory Responsibility
•Volunteers at assigned sites.
Accountability
Reports Directly To: Camps Project Coordinator
Works Directly With: Camps Project Manager, Project Support, M&E, Project Coordinator, Senior Project Officer, Volunteers and Partners’ focal points.
Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.
Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
•A degree in counseling, social work or other related fields.
•At least two years of related experience performing required tasks in development or relief context.
•Good understanding of refugees’ context in Jordan, and/ psycho-social support.
•Strong verbal and written communications skills.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word.)
•Willingness to travel and work directly in camps.
•Good English skills.
•Certificate in project or program management.
•Knowledge of Sphere standards and other training in humanitarian response preferred.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
The position is based in Amman, Jordan or other Middle East Mercy Corps locations and it requires up to 40% travel to support country programs, which may include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where amenities are limited. Housing for this role is in individual housing and staff will have access to good medical services and the living situation is of a high standard.
